There is a super cool market at the corner of Walnut Lake and Inkster in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Market Square, now the store is not a secret, everyone from this area already knows how awesome this place is. But, at the side of this market is a small patio area with tables. I see the employees using this for their breaks, but not many others. I sometimes meet a friend there for lunch. He will give me a time frame because he bikes there and I will drive. We go in and either pick up a sandwich from the fridge case or we order a “made to order” sandwich from the deli counter. Their chicken salad and egg salad are to die for, sometimes I mix the two together, amazing! I have all my sandwiches made on challah bread, which ups the sandwich experience by a gazillion percent!! Grab a drink of your choice, sometimes I will have a beer, especially if I know we are going to sit for a while.
Lately, we have picked some super beautiful days! Which makes the whole experience, well just plain sunny! I bring a towel to sit on, because the outside chairs are metal waffle and I don’t want waffle marks on my ass. It also claims my spot and is much more comfortable. I am always made fun of by my friend for doing this, but I know down inside he is just jealous his ass isn’t a happy as mine. We sit there for hours eating and shooting the shit. The most awesome music is piped outside from clear, quality speakers. 80’s and 90’s music that just makes you want to hang out!! I sing and we people watch and place bets on who will walk their carts back up to the front of the store and who won’t. He always quizzes me on the name of the band that is playing or the name of the song. He is really good at this kind of trivia, I’m getting better. Oh, and the car trivia, make, model, year, the kind engine, where they are made, etc. It is absolutely astonishing how many cool cars pull into this parking lot and what shitty parkers people are!
I think this would be a great for someone to meet a person you might be interested in dating. A good Ice breaker, not expensive, you could learn a lot about someone. We are old friends and it is just “a kick in the eye” for us and we always have a great time hanging out!! If you are around this market, give this informal picnic a try. It’s a super easy no brain er, that will relax you for the rest of your day.
